Carluke Community Growing & Learning Garden – one step closer to becoming a reality

The 18th May saw Angela Crawley MP (Lanark & Hamilton East) speak to 40+ members of CDT, Carluke High Mill Steering Group and members of Carluke’s communities and launch the programme to develop the land associated with he A-listed Carluke High Mill into the new Community Growing & Learning Garden.

Christine Warren, a member of the Carluke Parish Historical Society, spoke to the audience and outlined the site’s land and buildings important place in the heritage and history of Carluke and the various events and activities that the Carluke High Mill Steering Group and other members of Carluke’s communities have delivered, keeping the Carluke High Mill in the communities thoughts.

CDT is awaiting a decision on our planning application to South Lanarkshire Council for a change of use to allow the development of the land into the garden and it is hoped that work can commence during June with phase one of the development expected to be completed within 13 weeks (dependent on the Scottish weather of course).
